The wrong cleaner can dull, streak or stain a good worktop. Everyday sprays and polishes are made for general surfaces, not for quartz, solid surface or oiled wood. Find your worktop below to see the cleaner we recommend, and what to use when it needs more than a wipe.
Quick guide: which worktop cleaner do I need?
- Quartz, granite or marble (Apollo Quartz, Silestone, Caesarstone): Unika Granite & Quartz Worktop Cleaner
- Solid surface (Corian, HI-MACS, Apollo Slab Tech, Apollo Magna, Minerva): Unika Solid Surface Daily Worktop Cleaner
- Laminate: Unika Laminate Worktop Daily Cleaner
- Solid wood or oiled wood: Unika Solid Wood Worktop Cleaner or Osmo AntiBac Wood Daily Cleaner
- Super matte and FENIX NTM®: Unika Super Matte Surface Cleaner
- Composite sinks: Unika Composite Sink Cleaner
Quartz worktop cleaner (and granite and marble)
Quartz and granite look tough, but harsh or acidic cleaners can dull the polish over time, and many sprays leave a film that shows up as streaks in the light. Use a pH-balanced stone cleaner every day: spray, wipe with a microfibre cloth, done – no rinsing.
Unika Granite & Quartz Worktop Cleaner 500ml is our everyday choice for Apollo Quartz, Silestone, Caesarstone, granite and marble. Save with the twin pack.
Granite and natural stone also need sealing from time to time to stop oils and drinks soaking in. If water no longer beads on the surface, it is time to re-seal – the Unika Granite Worktop Sealer Kit includes a full 500ml bottle of granite sealer.

Solid surface worktop cleaner (Corian, HI-MACS, Apollo Slab Tech)
Solid surface is an acrylic material, so solvent-based cleaners and abrasive creams can mark or dull it. Clean daily with a dedicated solid surface spray, and deal with marks and light scratches as they appear – one of the big advantages of solid surface is that it can be restored.
- Every day: Unika Solid Surface Daily Worktop Cleaner – also available as a twin pack.
- Marks, stains and dull patches: Unika Solid Surface Rejuvenator lifts stubborn marks and restores an even finish.
- Finishing: Unika Solid Surface Shine adds a protective lustre.
Want all three? The Clean, Restore & Shine Set costs less than buying them separately.
Laminate worktop cleaner
Laminate is easy to look after, but bleach-based and abrasive cleaners can wear the printed surface and attack the joints. A gentle, non-foaming daily cleaner removes grease without leaving a sticky build-up.
Use Unika Laminate Worktop Daily Cleaner every day, or get everything in the Laminate Care Kit.
Wood worktop cleaner
Solid wood worktops need a neutral cleaner that will not strip the oil finish. Avoid soaking the surface, wipe spills quickly, and re-oil when the wood starts to look dry or water stops beading.
- Every day: Unika Solid Wood Worktop Cleaner or Osmo AntiBac Wood Daily Cleaner.
- Re-oiling: Osmo TopOil, or the complete Wood Worktop Care Kit.
Super matte and FENIX NTM® cleaner
Super matte surfaces hide fingerprints well – until the wrong spray leaves shiny, patchy marks. Use a cleaner made for matt finishes so the surface keeps its even, low-sheen look.
Unika Super Matte Surface Cleaner is suitable for FENIX NTM® worktops, super matte doors and wall panels. The Super Matte Care Kit adds a scuff and mark remover pad.
Composite sink cleaner
Granite-composite sinks pick up limescale and dull patches, especially in hard-water areas. Unika Composite Sink Cleaner is made for composite sinks: spray, leave briefly, rinse and dry.
Worktop cleaning FAQs
Can I use antibacterial kitchen spray on my worktop?
Many general sprays are fine for an occasional wipe, but regular use can leave a film or dull the finish on quartz, solid surface and super matte worktops. A cleaner made for your worktop type gives a better finish and is gentler on the surface.
Can I use bleach on quartz or solid surface?
Avoid it. Strong bleach and other harsh chemicals can discolour or dull quartz and solid surface. Wipe up any spills straight away and rinse with clean water.
How do I know if my granite needs sealing?
Drip a little water on the surface. If it beads up, the seal is fine. If it soaks in and darkens the stone, it is time to re-seal.
